Plenty to do on site!

The Red Caboose offers plenty to do right here. Start off with a look around above the viewing tower, you can see for miles in every direction , so don’t forget your camera! When you come down from the tower, it will be a tough decision whether to go the playground next or the petting zoo. . . What could be more fun than going down a slide, hanging from the monkey bars, or swinging on the swings? But the fun doesn’t stop there, bring a soccer ball, football, baseball, kites, Frisbees, etc and enjoy the open fields. Once you wear yourself out, make sure to stop at the petting zoo on your way back. Be sure to feed the donkey, chickens and other barnyard animals, they don’t mind.

Now its time to eat!

By now you should have worked up an appetite, so head on over to the restaurant and order some good old fashioned home cooked food. Once done eating, check out the gift shop located next door. There is plenty of memorabilia for your family to take home, and tons of candy and snacks for them to enjoy right here. If you need a break, you can always sit outside on the main deck and relax for a bit. Hopefully the Strasburg Train which passes by throughout the day won’t distract you too much. Watch the kids as they run closer to check it out. Don’t miss the buggy rides on your left; I’m sure that’s next on your list of things to do. If you don’t like buggy rides, head back to the porch with your laptop. You can wait there while you check your email and browse the internet for a while with our complimentary internet access. Once everyone else comes back from their ride, pack up and get ready to go again.

Where to begin. . . Perhaps the two closest attractions which are in walking distance? Check out the National Toy Train Museum, your kids will love pushing all the buttons to make the trains move and landscape come alive! Or if they are interested in the real thing, take a walk to the Strasburg train station, where you can purchase a train ticket, or walk around the museum there. Once done, its time to hop in your car and travel around the area, with tons to do less than 10 minutes away.

Don’t forget to plan a full day of shopping at our two local outlet locations. Tanger Outlet Centers and Rockvale Square Outlets offer over a hundred stores such as Nike, Sony, Gap, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, Lenox, Eddie Bauer, Reebok, Liz Claiborne, Harry & David, Polo Ralph Lauren and more all at outlet prices.

Also, plan on driving around the beautiful countryside with an eye out for all the Pennsylvania Dutch shops. Check out all the merchandise the Amish craftsmen have to offer, including their fresh baked goods. Or simply stop by the Farmer’s Markets to have your treat of the finest foods anywhere.
